The Knights of Columbus was founded by Servant of God Father Michael McGivney in in the year 1882 in New Haven Connecticut. Father McGivney was moved by two main issues of his day. The first was the fact that when fathers died their wives and children often became destitute victims of the times. The second issue was Catholic men not leading good Catholic lives and joining various “secret” societies which did not promote a good Catholic life.
The result today is that the Knights of Columbus is one of the most highly rated insurance organizations in the world. Almost two million men are Knights of Columbus and form one of the most effective charitable organizations in the world. You can read more about the history of the Knights here: https://www.kofc.org/un/en/todays-knights/history/index.html
Our Council was created in 1967 and we are active in many charitable activities as will be described on this, our website. We share the original goals of Father McGivney as we try to see Christ in others and grow closer to Christ by way of our Catholic faith. God willing, and by His grace, we plan to continue our charitable efforts and live by the Core Principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
